This QQI Special Purpose Award in Training & Development is designed for anyone who wants to train professionally, or trains others as part of an existing role. Achieving this award will add weight and credibility to your experience as a trainer, or put your skills on the map if you are new to training.

To achieve the Special Purpose Award, you must successfully complete 2 components - Training Needs Identification & Design and Training Delivery & Evaluation. These courses focus on a different element of the Training Cycle. Each component can also be taken as a standalone course if preferred.

Your Train The Trainer Certification

If you have already achieved the FETAC Train The Trainer certification (Level 6 minor award, code: E30179), you may already be halfway to achieving the new QQI Special Purpose Award in Training & Development.

Those who are FETAC Train The Trainer certified may claim an exemption from having to complete the Training Delivery & Evaluation component of this award. This means that you would only need to attend and successfully complete the Training Needs Identification & Design component.

This exemption is only available for a limited period of time. The exemption window depends on when you completed your existing Train The Trainer certificate, so your exemption deadline is very specific to you.

Frequently Asked Questions: QQI Special Purpose Award in Training & Development

    • Are QQI the same as FETAC?

      QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland) was set up to merge the separate agencies of FETAC, HETAC and NQAI. This means that awards which were previously FETAC, have now been revised and established as new QQI awards.

 

    • What Certification Will I Receive?

      If you successfully complete both components of the Special Purpose Award (Training Needs Identification & Design and Training Delivery & Evaluation) along with the relevant assessments, you will earn a QQI Special Award in Training and Development. The code for this award is 6S3372.

 

    • Is it essential to complete both courses?

      If you want to achieve the Special Purpose Award, you must complete both courses successfully. However, if you are not working towards the Special Purpose Award and are interested in attending one component only, either course can be taken on a standalone basis.

 

  • How will gaining the QQI Training & Development Special Purpose Award benefit my career?
