Did you know that you can now take your PMP® exam online?
One of the world’s most prestigious project management credentials just got even more accessible.
At the end of April 2020, the Project Management Institute (PMI®) announced that the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam is now available to take online. Prompted by the uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 restrictions, this move also answered a need for online options from exam candidates worldwide.
This proctored online approach makes achieving your PMP® certification attainable no matter where you are based and what your schedule looks like.
How does it work?
This online option is a proctored exam, which means that you’ll have a PMI®-appointed invigilator (proctor) monitoring your exam via live video connection.
Sit Your Exam Anytime
The PMI® are offering a 24/7 exam scheduling option. No matter what time suits you to sit your exam, you should be able to find an available proctored examination slot.
Scheduling Your Exam
Once your application has been approved by the PMI®, you will be able to schedule your exam using your online PMI® Portal.
If you had booked your exam at a Pearson VUE test centre
, but would prefer to take your exam online, you can reschedule your exam without fees until October 1st 2020
. You’ll find more information on how to do that in the PMI®'s excellent resource page for online testing
The PMP® Exam remains a 4-hour exam with 200 multiple-choice questions. You must answer at least 106 of these correctly to pass your exam. The PMI® have introduced a 10-minute break midway through the exam to help keep candidates fresh and focused.
What do I need?
You’ll need to have the following for your PMP® exam online:
- A completed application, reviewed and accepted by the PMI®. We advise on the application process during training.
- A confirmed scheduled exam date.
- A computer with a web camera.
- A steady, reliable internet connection.
- Somewhere quiet, away from noise and interruptions for the 4-hour duration of your exam.
How can I prepare?
Exam preparation training and access to an online exam simulator are invaluable tools for your PMP® exam preparation.
Luckily, you can now tick both of these items off your list from home too.
Our live virtual 4-day PMP® exam preparation course has been extremely busy throughout lockdown and Covid-19 social distancing. Here’s what two of our recent participants had to say about their experience:
I had a very good experience with Professional Development. I would rate the training consultant highly, the booking process was very easy and the training consultant was very accommodating with any questions.
I was very impressed by the course and trainer, her knowledge and tips were extremely useful and I learnt a lot from the course. The content was very clear. The programming and organization was perfect as the training ran smoothly and kept to the planned schedule. I thought the delivery of the virtual classroom was very good.
After COVID everyone is more accustomed to virtual meetings and I felt the meetings ran very smoothly. The use of breakout rooms were good in the way they split up the class and kept everyone interested.
My overall impression was very good, with clear course content and course well presented by the trainer. Exam Q&A & slides on exam application process were very useful; discussions & exercises were very effective, along with breakout rooms helping to learn & practice new skills.
Strengths of the course were the trainer’s presentation skills and knowledge of the PMBOK® Guide. I was very impressed with virtual classroom delivery and would consider it over classroom going forward.
Online Exam Simulator
Our PMP® Exam Preparation Course includes a 60-day access to an online PMP® exam simulator.
Once you finish training, you will be able to focus on developing the mental stamina and mindset you need to successfully sit and pass your exam.
